Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 21, 2026
This policy explains what information Roswell Dads Network (RDN) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain and short on purpose.
What We Collect
When you apply, visit, or become a member, we may collect:
- Your name and email address
- Your phone number
- Your business information (business name, website, address)
- Your profession or industry seat
- A profile photo, if you choose to add one
If you use the Roswell Dads Network mobile app, we also handle:
- Content you create in the app, such as posts, comments, “Who can help?” requests, recommendations, inquiries, referrals, RSVPs and private messages
- A notification token for your phone, if you allow push notifications
- Your approximate location, only while the app is open and only if you allow it (see below)
- Your activity in the app, such as the actions you take, so that the app can work
How We Use It
We use your information to run the chapter, not to sell to third parties. Specifically:
- Membership management — reviewing applications and maintaining the member directory
- Communications — chapter announcements, meeting reminders, and event updates
- Referrals between members — connecting you with other members and sharing your business details within the group
- Event coordination — RSVPs, headcounts, and logistics
Approximate Location
If you allow it, the app asks for your approximate location only while the app is open. We use it for one thing: to show the city you are in and the local weather on your Home screen. The app never reads your location in the background, and it asks only for approximate (not precise) location. Your location is not saved to your account and is not sent to our servers. You can decline the permission or turn it off in your phone’s settings at any time, and the app will use the home city or ZIP code on your profile instead. To turn coordinates into a city name, your phone’s built-in location services may be used.
Camera & Photos
The app uses your camera only when you ask it to: to scan another member’s Man Card QR code, and (on Android) to read the text on a business card. Scanning happens on your device. Camera images stay on your device and are not uploaded unless you choose to upload a photo yourself, such as a profile photo or a business-card logo. On Android, reading business-card text is done by text recognition that runs entirely on your device; no image or text is sent anywhere for it. The app does not record audio. You can turn off camera and photo access in your phone’s settings at any time.
Push Notifications
Push notifications are optional. If you allow them, we store a notification token for your phone and send things like event reminders and chapter announcements through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers the message to your device. You can choose which kinds of notifications you receive in the app, or turn them off in your phone’s settings. Your notification token is deleted when you delete your account.
On iPhones, notifications are delivered through Expo’s push service and Apple Push Notification service. On Android, through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. These services receive a device token and the notification text, not your account details.
Weather
To show the weather, the app sends Open-Meteo a pair of approximate coordinates (from your approximate location, or from the home city or ZIP code on your profile) and receives the current temperature and conditions. If the app needs to turn a ZIP code or city into coordinates, it sends only that ZIP code or city name to Zippopotam.us or Open-Meteo. No account data (such as your name, email or member ID) is sent to either service.
Posts, Messages & Who Can See Them
- Posts, comments and “Who can help?” requests are visible to approved members of the network and to chapter admins.
- Inquiries and referrals are visible only to the two members involved.
- Your profile: your name, business and category are visible to approved members. You choose who can see your phone number, email and other profile details (Public, RDN Members, RDA Members, or Only Me). Chapter admins can see your profile details regardless of these settings. When you join through the app, your phone number is visible to chapter admins only unless you choose to share it with other members.
- Reports and blocks: any member can report content or block another member. Chapter admins review reports.
Private Messages
Private messages are only visible to you and the person you're messaging. No admin screen shows them. They are stored securely but are not yet end-to-end encrypted; access to the database is restricted and logged. End-to-end encryption is planned for a future update.
Cookies & Analytics
Our website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It measures general traffic (like page views) without tracking individuals across the web, and it does not build advertising profiles of you. A small cookie remembers that you have dismissed our cookie notice. The mobile app contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Data Storage
Member data is stored in Supabase (a PostgreSQL database), hosted in the United States. Access is limited to chapter leadership.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Our providers are:
- Cloudflare — website hosting and analytics
- Supabase — member database
- Expo — distribution of our mobile app
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications to your phone
- Expo’s push service and Apple Push Notification service — deliver push notifications to iPhones
- Open-Meteo — current weather, using approximate coordinates or a city name only
- Zippopotam.us — turns a ZIP code into approximate coordinates for the weather, using the ZIP code only
Data Retention
When you delete your account, your personal information is removed from the app immediately. Content you shared with others (posts and messages) stays, shown as 'Former member'. Backup copies are deleted within 30 days.
Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, in the app: Profile → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and does not need admin approval. When you delete your account:
- Your profile, phone number, photos, businesses, notification tokens and personal settings are deleted.
- Your Man Card is revoked, and any open “Who can help?” requests you posted are closed.
- If you held an Alliance (RDA) seat, it is released.
- Your sign-in is disabled and you are signed out.
- Posts and messages you already shared with others stay, shown as “Former member”.
If you don’t have the app, you can ask us to delete your account by email. See roswelldads.com/delete-account for the steps and the full list of what is deleted and what is kept.
Your Rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. Just email hello@roswelldads.com and we will take care of it. To delete your account, see Deleting Your Account above.
